The Book
In this world of internet and the vast array of software and electronics available for farm management, we often forget what a brilliant technology the pen/pencil and paper are.
- You learn to use it from a very early age
- It's so simple to use,EVERYONE can(even Dad!!!)
- It's cheap
- Needs no batteries or power
- You can read it in bright sunlight
A further improvement on this amazing technology was the invention of the book. It has all the advantages of pen and sheet of paper but has more features.
- You can drop a book, tread on it, get it trampled in the stockyards, it won't break
- You can keep ALL your records in it.
At Smarter Farming, we've taken the amazing technology of the ordinary book and improved on it.
- Firstly, we've taken all the records a farmer is going to need to record on a day to day basis and included them all in seperate sections of The Book.
- Things like
- Livestock movements
- Paddock activities
- Crop/Paddock Chemical use
- Feeding Log
- Machinery Log
- Injury Register
- Contractors OHS agreement
- Farm Maps for contractors
- Breeding tables
- Things like
- Then we made it with carbon paper duplicates so that the copy can be removed and filed, or the info entered onto computer, while the original stays in The Book.
- We've made it customisable, you send us your maps and we include them in The Book. You tell us what you need and it's included.
Note that The Book is not a mass-produced generic notebook, it is a highly specialised record keeping diary, hand made per client to suit their exact requirements.
The Book is the answer for
- Farming enterprises where you just want to keep the records, not analyse them in a computer software program.
- Farming enterprises where there is ONE person who enters data into a computer program for analysis, but several people who will be making records.
- e.g. Company farms and stations or family farms with several workers
- You just want to write things down without starting the computer
In this case it is simply a matter of supplying the duplicate to the person who enters the data, while keeping the original in The Book for later reference.
The consistent layout ensures that information is recorded quickly and accurately.
